New Director of Child Care Ministries
We are pleased to announce that Rhonda Perkins has accepted the position of Director of Child Care Ministries at La Vernia UMC. After considering five candidates the interview committee recommended to the CCM Board that Rhonda Perkins be offered the position. The CCM Board voted unanimously to offer her the position, which she accepted on 1-25-12. She will begin on 2-6-12. Previously she has been the assistant librarian at the La Vernia Intermediate School.
Rhonda and her husband have five children and three grandchildren. They are originally from Texas but spent a number of years in Missouri. Her husband is in the cattle business and has taught at the university level in school of agriculture. Rhonda has an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development from Ozarks Technical Community College in Missouri, additional studies at Missouri State University and lacks a few hours to complete her undergraduate degree which she plans to do within the next year. She has had teaching experience in pre-school and public school. She is excited to be the Director of Childcare Ministries and looks forward to getting acquainted with the program, the staff and especially the children and their parents.

Childcare Ministries Dayschool
Dear Parents,
On behalf of the La Vernia United Methodist Church I want to welcome you to our Childcare Ministries program. It is our hope to be able to minister to your family, both parents and children, by providing quality supervision of your children. This will not only give you valuable time, but peace of mind knowing that your children are in a loving environment where they will be happy and be encouraged in their growth and development.
It is our desire to help your family face the many challenges that are before us in our society today. If there is any way that our church family can be of service to you, please let us know. Also, if you have any suggestions that would improve our ministry, we would love to hear them.
Please feel free to join us in any other activities or ministries at our church. We have youth activities on Wednesday evenings at 6:00pm that include 3rd graders through high school ages. We also have two worship services on Sunday mornings, at 8:30 and 11:00. Our 8:30am worship service includes a children’s time and our 11:00am service is set up in a contemporary format for all ages. We also have Sunday school classes for all ages, including several different classes for adults. If you are interested in any of these areas, please call us for more information.

Our mission is to offer a variety of activities conducted in a Christian atmosphere, dedicated to the child'sphysical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual growth and to make disciples for the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that through Christian caring, each child is helped to grow in independence and to develop his or her own unique talents and ability. Our program is a ministry to the children, parents, congregation and the surrounding community of La Vernia United Methodist Church.

At LVUMC CCM Dayschool our children have regular Chapel time and worship with Pastor Harry Kahl. The children learn Christian songs and listen to a Bible lesson.
